Volumetric improvement leads to emerging waistline mobility - A from Malaysia Jan 2018
Anytime we see a big boost in size and weight gains, good things are seen all over the place. Today we observe the improved abdomen, the emergence of waistline mobility and the improved quadruped position.
The size of abdomen that can be squeezed between the thumb and forefinger of the assessor has shown significant increase in size, showing the abdomenis gaining both in size and in strength.
In Nov 2016, the ribcage and the pelvis were directly above one another leaving no room for any waistline mobility (refer to the red triangle in Nov 2016). With the volumetric improvement of the entire trunk, the ribcage and the pelvis begin to separate from one another giving space to initial waistline.
This is another view of the still pictures of the emerging lateral mobility of his trunk. His lower trunk is now more at an angle to the upper trunk as compared with Nov 2016 pictures where his upper trunk and lower trunk were lifted as one block.
Because of the emerging waistline mobility, the contact area with the bench has widened from just the shoulder to now the entire mid thoracic region.
The same emerging waistline mobility also enables his trunk to start moving with undulation now.
What is the big deal about his trunk having undulatory movement? An engineering laboratory study shows how movement is a lot more efficient when the trunk is able to move with undulation. This is a study done with robotic salamander. The one that moves the faster is the one with its trunk having undulatory movement and proper sequence of movement (whether the trunk or the extremeties initiates the movement).
